I just finished a book for kids. It’s called Learn the Constellations, and it is the first book in my Star Gazing for Kids Series. This was great fun writing and I’m hoping you’ll have as much fun reading it.
Check out the popular constellations in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Right now through January 27th (Sunday night), it is available free in the Kindle store at Amazon. So go check it out and let me know what you think.
My new book, Getting Started With Star Gazing, has been released. With all the excitement, particularly in California, about the space shuttle Endeavour being retired I was reminded of seeing the stars in a spectacular view. Actually, there are three outstanding sights that stay with me always. One was up at Lake Tahoe in California along Highway 50. There were so many stars that night, I could see the Milky Way with my naked eyes.
Another occasion… it was almost dream-like or something out of a movie, happened in Stanley, Idaho. The air was so clear, it was as if you could jump high in the air and touch or even grab one.
The third spectacular night of viewing is one I think must have been why the Wright Brothers wanted to fly. It also was in California, off the coast of Jenner – just a little spot on the map of Northern California. Standing on a high cliff on a starry night and looking up and out at the clusters, I had the impulse of wanting to fly out and up among the stars.
